Hélene, 73: “I am health-revived thanks to Hagabadet.”

In 2020, Hélene was in Peru. On her way to the airport bus in Lima, she fell and shattered her elbow. The injury required surgery and eight weeks in a cast. Shortly afterward, the pandemic began.

– During the pandemic I got stuck in a spiral of Netflix and chocolate. I became low, tired, and felt worse and worse. When I was diagnosed with diabetes, it was a wake-up call, says Hélene Stendahl.

Right after receiving her diabetes diagnosis, Hélene began her health journey. It started with daily walks, but she soon grew tired of that.

– I started thinking about what else I could do. Regular gyms didn’t appeal to me at all—it just wasn’t me. I had been eyeing Hagabadet for a while when I saw a trial offer. At first, I mostly did yoga and water aerobics. Training with gym machines wasn’t even on my radar back then, says Hélene, and continues:

– I had a lot of preconceptions. For example, with classes like Body Circle, I thought it would just be full of ‘slim sylphs,’ but I was wrong. Now I’ve been training for a year and a half and I’m completely hooked..

Hélene is a textbook example of how it’s never too late to start training and commit to a healthier lifestyle.

– That I would have arm muscles at my age—I never thought it possible! Today, both my knees and my balance are much better, I can walk up stairs without a problem, and I feel better than I have in ten years, both physically and mentally.

When she first tried machine workouts, a level 4 weight felt heavy for Hélene. Today she’s lifting level 8–9 at her favorite Body Circle class.

– Most weeks I go three times. It’s a good routine and gives me a great start to the day. There’s such a wonderful atmosphere at Hagabadet’s classes, completely free of pressure. The only person I’m competing with is myself. I could never have imagined that training could give such a rush!

Something Hélene especially values at Hagabadet is the balance between benefit and enjoyment.

Being a member at Hagabadet is more than just training—it’s a subscription to a healthy lifestyle. I can’t imagine giving it up now. I’ll continue prioritizing my membership. The money I used to spend on fast food, takeaway, and unhealthy habits, I now invest in my health.

Today Hélene feels great, and her insulin levels are below the diabetes threshold—even when she treats herself to something extra. She was delighted to enjoy a semla on Shrove Tuesday, offered by Hagabadet, without any worries.

– I’ve found the path to holistic health—a balanced lifestyle with both movement and rest. And I’ve also gained a new community. As a member at Hagabadet, I’m never alone.

Hélene is eager to encourage others who are searching for a healthier, more balanced lifestyle to join Hagabadet.
